  1. Lights streaming through Pierrefonds were made with huge lights outside on the ledges.

This was a great, very informative episode. I really enjoyed the background of how things are put together.

  2. You’re absolutely right. Getting paid for looking at Colin’s eyes all day long definitely goes on my list of dream jobs. xD

  3. Since it was a “Love to hate” episode and I feel you were a lot on the “love” side this time (I agree that the lighting is usually gorgeous in the show), I just want to comment on a scene where the light is really really bad. It’s in episode 4X13 when Merlin, Arthur, the knights, Tristan and Isold are armed and ready to get Camelot back from Morgana’s clutches. They are in the forest and the lighting feels like they are on a baseball field with intense industrial white light. Definitely not the kind of lighting you would have in a medieval nocturn setting! Thanks for talking about this subject. It is not something I hear about often.

  4. This is probably my top favorite Merlisten episodes! (I love it when you discuss parts of the show that are different from just the stories)
. I was wondering what you guys thought about Arthur’s “300 style” fighting shots in season 5 (with the flashes and then zoom/slow mo)? I LOVE those shots with the music they use for those scenes (although it does seem a little out of place in ep. 7, A Lesson in Vengeance). A VFX choice I love is when Merlin is lighting up Freya’s funeral boat (maybe I’m biased because this is one of my favorite scenes in general), his eyes do the normal gold magic thing but they (I think, I may be wrong) kind of sizzle out as he lets his breath escape. I thought it was a nice touch of variety to something we see so often based on the emotional context of the character.
