When Angel was cast, there was a huge backlash about casting a POC (especially in the US). Sadly. I did like that they treated Gwen as a person rather than a POC in the show.
They had a hard time casting Gwen at all. Angel was cast at the last moment so I’m not sure they really thought about her as a POC, just that she was right for the part.
