  1. Thank you for another very enjoyable podcast. ‘Sweet Dreams’ is one of my favourite episodes, due to the perfectly delivered comedy from all main players.

I wanted to tie a couple of comments to two of your discussion points:

    1) Concerning how to look at Alined and Trickler, I actually to some extent see them as a deliberate in-show dark mirror parody of Arthur and Merlin’s own relationship… because unpleasant as that thought is, there are similarities!

    2) Concerning Gwen’s statement to Arthur at the end, that she herself has caused ‘her fair share of hurt’, to me these words seem to be the referback to Lancelot that you said you were missing in your podcast discussion. I’ve understood that to be her acknowledgement that Arthur was hurt by seeing her choosing Lancelot in the ‘Lancelot and Guinevere’ episode, and that she apparently blames herself. and apologizes. Which means she now thinks she should have chosen differently back then and that Arthur had a right to be hurt. This annoys me because it seems to detract from Gwen’s agency as a free woman and limits her to being the destined future queen.

Sorry that this comment comes late, and I’m looking forward to new podcasts!

  2. No need for talk-back.
This is one of my favorite episodes of all of Merlin. It just made me laugh all the way through.
I had to laugh about Xan’s thought that Uther had dreamed the whole thing. I LOVE that idea. Someone should write that.

  3. Yes, I am gonna revive this thread, because it’s a great podcast.

The idea that Gwen would serve guests (and not just Morgana) is at least consistent with the show, since Merlin serves guests as well (Off the top of my head in the Gwaine episode)
